Connect Guardian To Claude Or ChatGPT
Ask Claude or ChatGPT about your facilities in plain English: open work orders, what a lease says about who fixes the roof, how much you have spent this year, which proposals are waiting on you. The Guardian connector gives the assistant read-only access to your own Guardian data, and nothing else.
Before you start
- A Guardian customer account. You sign in with your normal Guardian login. Connecting needs a customer Admin; once connected, the assistant sees what a customer Admin sees in the Guardian portal.
- Claude or ChatGPT. Claude: a plan that allows custom connectors. ChatGPT: a plan that offers Developer Mode (for example Plus, Pro, Business or Enterprise).
- Your organization's OK. On Claude Team or Enterprise and ChatGPT Business or Enterprise, an owner or admin may need to allow the connector first.

Connect Claude
On claude.ai, Claude Desktop or the Claude mobile app:
- Open Settings, then Connectors.
- Choose Add custom connector, name it Guardian, paste the connector address, and choose Add. Leave the advanced OAuth fields empty.
- Choose Connect. A Guardian sign-in page opens.
- Sign in to Guardian. If you work for more than one customer, pick the customer account.
- Read the access request ("Claude wants read-only access to ...") and choose Approve.
- In a new chat, open the tools menu, make sure Guardian is on, and ask a question.
On a Team or Enterprise plan, an owner adds the connector once under the organization's settings, and each person then connects and signs in with their own Guardian login.
Claude Code:
claude mcp add --transport http guardian https://visionis.guardiancoresystems.com/api/mcpThen run /mcp, choose guardian, and sign in when your browser opens.
Connect ChatGPT
- Open Settings, then Apps & Connectors, then Advanced settings, and turn on Developer mode. Then choose Create, name it Guardian, paste the connector address, and set Authentication to OAuth.
- Sign in to Guardian and choose Approve.
- In a new chat, add Guardian from the tools menu and ask a question.
Menu names change from time to time. If you cannot find a step, search ChatGPT's help for "connectors" or "developer mode".
Things to ask
- "Which of our locations in Ohio have open work orders right now?"
- "Show me store 1042: who handles the HVAC and the roof under the lease, and how much have we spent against the repair threshold this year?"
- "Which jobs are waiting on the landlord, and how long has each been open?"
- "What open plumbing work do we have over $1,000?"
- "What did we spend each month this year, and which ten locations cost the most?"
- "Which proposals are waiting on my approval, and what warranty comes with each?"
- "Which assets are still under warranty at the Dayton location?"
- "Summarize our savings this quarter."
The assistant can also work with the answers: "Draft an email to the landlord about the oldest of those jobs." It writes the draft for you; Guardian sends nothing.
Tip for large portfolios: lists return up to 100 rows at a time. Ask about a state, a trade, a location or a date range rather than "all locations", and the answers will be faster and complete.
What the assistant can see
| Tool | What it answers |
|---|---|
| Search Work Orders | Jobs by status, trade, location, date range, text or amount |
| Get Work Order | One job in detail: status, location, provider, dates, lease responsibility, proposals, and notes shared with you |
| List Locations | Your locations with location ID or store number, city, state and open jobs |
| Get Location | One location: address, landlord, lease responsibilities and thresholds, this year's spend, open jobs |
| Open Items Needing Attention | Proposals awaiting a decision, notes needing action, landlord jobs still open |
| Spend Summary | Invoiced spend by month, trade, location or provider |
| List Proposals | Proposals by state, with totals and warranty |
| Savings Summary | Your Finance Savings figures |
| List Assets | Your asset register by location and trade, with warranty status |
What it cannot do
- Change anything. Every tool is read-only. It cannot create requests, approve proposals, or edit records.
- See another customer's data. Each connection is for one customer account.
- See provider costs, margins, internal Guardian notes, or access and lockbox codes.
Please do not put patient information or other sensitive personal data in work orders, notes or uploads in Guardian.
Disconnect
- In your assistant: remove or disconnect Guardian under Settings, Connectors (Claude) or Apps & Connectors (ChatGPT).
- In Guardian: a customer Admin can see every connection under Admin, Connect To Claude Or ChatGPT, and choose Revoke. It stops working immediately.
Troubleshooting
| What you see | What to do |
|---|---|
| The Guardian sign-in page does not open | Allow pop-ups for claude.ai or chatgpt.com, then choose Connect again. |
| "You don't have access to approve this" | Connecting needs a customer Admin. Ask your Guardian admin to connect, or to give you Admin access. |
| The assistant says it cannot reach Guardian | Disconnect and connect again. If you revoked the connection in Guardian, you need to connect again. |
| "Showing 100 of ..." | Narrow the question by state, trade, location or dates. |
| An answer looks wrong | Check the same item in the Guardian portal. The connector reads the same data, so a difference is worth reporting to us. |
Privacy and security
- Read-only, one customer per connection, revocable at any time.
- You sign in through Guardian and approve access yourself. Guardian never sees your Claude or ChatGPT password, and the assistant never sees your Guardian password.
- Every request is recorded in your account's audit log.
- Guardian does not receive your conversations, only the questions the assistant sends to the connector. Answers the connector returns are handled by your AI provider under your agreement with them.
Read the Guardian Privacy Policy, section 8 covers the connector.
